Fields of application

For decades, the deployment and field of tasks of the Bundeswehr were clearly defined, political circumstances and statutory basis meant that an armed deployment “out of area” was inconceivable. However, the situation regarding security policy and the scope of tasks have altered fundamentally.
The process of globalisation renders these missions necessary and the German military is consequently actively deployed abroad in regions such as Afghanistan, Africa and the Balkans. In addition to the Bundeswehr the federal and state police forces, customs officers and other sovereign authorities of our security apparatus are also involved, with the objective of maintaining, monitoring and enforcing the law and legal basis. These operations call for international co-operation in many different collaborative projects. International terrorism in particular presents the security agencies with major challenges.
In order to be able to undertake these various tasks in a professional and success-oriented manner, excellent training must be accompanied by the necessary equipment.
